NTC / Outreach Supports Reduced Length of Stay
Neonatal Transitional Care (NTC) & outreach supports reduced length of stay for the preterm population
Neonatal Transitional Care supported by a neonatal outreach service facilitates reduced length of stay for ex extreme preterm infants and for the late preterm infant (34-37 weeks). NTC supports a resident mother as the primary care provider for a baby in line with family integrated care framework resulting in up-skilling of parents to take preterm infants home tube feeding.
This lecture will outline ‘NTC as a concept not a place’ and include guidelines and tools to support the establishment of NTC and an outreach service to prevent bed blocking in the NNU.
